Season 2009 ended on rank 20 with great Davis Cup results and more experience.
Opened season at Brisbane reaching SFs (lost to Andy Roddick). As No. 21 seed fell to Korolev in Australian Open 2nd RD which was really disappointing. In February, reached back-to-back QFs at San Jose (again lost with Andy Roddick) and Memphis (lost to Ernest Gulbis).
